The Tower !!!
Tower is amazing outside and in.
Built in 1828 by Scottish immigrant George Longley as one of the first windmills in Upper Canada, it also had a life in the 1860s as a distillery
Chart House
Entrepreneur & Inventor Peter Webster founded Maitland Charts in 1933 and ran it in this building until the 1970s. Maitland Charts has a fascinating history, that includes WWII intrigue - more about that in the future. To honour him, we call it the "Chart House". It is the first building under restoration.
The Stables
From the 1920s to 2000, the Stables were part of The Pointe Farm, and home not only to some very well known horses, but also to some special donkeys. Built in the 1830s, it will be the third building to be restored
The Future
In the spirit of "Leading while Remembering", we have a vision of re-integrating this site into the community that is taking shape and is very exciting !
Preparing for the next leg of the voyage...
This is a very special place, and in the same family circle since the original land grant back in the early 1800s. Generations of entrepreneurship, invention, and part of the Maitland community since its founding.
For the first time, the future is in the hands of a new family. We will honour those that have come before me by “leading while remembering”, making sure it doesn’t become a disintegrating relic of the past, or a private kingdom, but instead ensure that it is treasured for the next 200 years and beyond as a living and important part of the community.
The restoration is already underway.... Keep in touch...
